Objects
(2010)

makers: Daniel Wieckmann, Jack Quan Zhou and Zi Zhao Chris Tan.

Impressive credit sequence, which shows some of the strong production skills of these particular students. The conceit of the project is simple. We see a room and we have three corners of the room, each with collections of objects. Select corner and we see that, and the thumbnails become the objects within that corner of the room. Select an object and we get a narrative fragment that is about that object. It is an interesting formal exercise, though I don't understand why when I choose an object I am returned to the three thumbnail view (the three corners of the room) but with no access to the corner of the room I was just in. There are a lot of possibilities in this one, thinking about how you can use something like Korsakow to try to make what is, in effect, a spatial story, though a stronger sense of why the objects are there - their stories if you like, would have also made it more intriguing. Imagine if the stories were from the objects point of view. What would they say?
