This rhizome template provides for 2 video tracks to play independently alongside each other and for a separate soundtrack to be loaded and to play independently of these video tracks.
This rhizome template is the same as rhizome two except that it now adds a soundtrack. The soundtrack, like the video tracks, is loaded via the XML file for this rhizome template. The audio track will autoplay, and loop, and in this rhizome the user has no control over it at all - it will just start playing.
This rhizome is probably intended (but intention is always a weak index of anything) to let you have two silent videos and then to add a soundtrack of your choosing. Since all these three QuickTime clips are loaded as child movies they all play and run completely independently of each other. This means your soundtrack can be as long or as short as you wish, and it will just play whether the two videos are running, paused, rewound or whatever.
This is the sort of video behaviour that I mean by softvideo. Because each of the three QuickTime tracks that make up this work are independent objects within the rhizome movie they can be scripted to behave as separate objects. To keep this simple in the templates the conditions are just play states (the video or audio plays or it doesn't), but even that, where you have three tracks each now with their own durations but able to be played in a common, or as a common, movie, is dramatically different to video as we ordinarily understand it.
To use just download the attached zip, edit the XML file, and upload the video and the XML to your server and embed in the usual way.
