This is an interactive QuickTime essay that explores the relationship of a rhizomatic form to softvideo practice. It also details a series of video templates that have been created to explore alternative forms for online video.

The attached zip file needs to be downloaded to your computer. Unzip the archive and load softrhizome32.mov in QuickTime player. Do not move the media folder in relation to softrhizome32.mov (this mov file must always be a sibling of the media folder).
To use click any of the chapters that are listed across the bottom of the movie. This takes you to that point. For each of these sections when you click a commentary will begin to play (audio only). This is the discussion relevant to that section.
For the major parts there is also a video window which appears. This has stop, play, pause, rewind, go to end and go to beginning buttons. This video will play (it has no soundtrack) independently of the commentary, and regardless of where in the commentary you may be. You can also pause or otherwise manipulate this video track independently of the commentaries.
The firefox icon loads a blog entry which links to this page, the essay as text, and instructions for use.
