I use a combination of process and problem based methodologies in my teaching and have a strong reflective practice emphasis. I think very little of a lot of what educationalists do as research since, as a professional practice, it suffers the fate of all other practices where they have elaborate conventions and rules of membership that means they talk to themselves more than they provide stuff that engages with teaching academics who are not educationalists. Some students enjoy my approach. Some loathe it. Most figure it out and get on with what they want to get on with.
