Middle One

This is the second video work (of a planned three to begin with) of the child series. It repeats the structure of the first work, where mousing into the square sprite toggles the video track between colour and black and white. It also shows the text that is associated with the work. The text is important, I think one of the interesting possibilities of a web based video practice that is digital is that distances between things like images, videos, text and so on is softened. On the other hand by bringing the words close to the video we can also start to see (make visible) the specificity and distance between each of these modes (which is why convergence is probably a poor term for these sorts of practices).

It is 48″ in duration, 4.6MB in size, and 600 x 300 pixels in size.

  • Interesting…
However, I was hoping I could play around with the words, perhaps a link or move them around, or they link to certain point in the video…but overall a fun little video…thanks for posting it.

  • Thanks for the comment Nathan.

Yes, you’re right, it doesn’t actually ‘do’ much does it? I like the suggestions you make. I’d sort of stepped back from making things like that since they didn’t seem to be making much sense to others, but your comment has reminded me to stick to my guns, and to let there be a bit more activity in the works.

On the other hand with these ones I didn’t want them cluttered with activity, they’re more works to my kids.

    thanks again :-)
