This is the second iteration of this work, shot on the footpath in Brugge. Like the first one video pane is reasonable resolution while the second is deliberately low res, however the major difference is that after completing and experimenting with the first version I realised that the image sequence could be randomised. (In the third iteration the two video panes are identical.)
This is because there is enough context established by the video, the photos and the textual commentary for the user to be able to make sense, and connections, between them. They really don't need to be linear in terms of a particular order. In fact they actually tend to work better when they're not, it is more playful, informal, and associative. The associations are there because the material is not random, after all they are all related to a specific day and activity and a response to it.
This realisation, which I probably should have already understood from my experience with hypertext, is what has informed my use of the Korsakow system in the fragments project.
