Paris Snow
created: 9 January 2004

This was shot from outside the apartment we rented for a week in the Marais in Paris. On New Years Day we woke to find it snowing. For someone from Australia this was pretty serious postcard stuff. The footage is just of snow falling. It has been tiled, and when you mouse into the video the speed of it slows. Clicking on the video pane restores it to normal playback speed. This video is actually 320 x 240 but at that size it is too small to see what is going on, so I've just scaled it here to twice the size. Same resolution of data, but at this size you can see the snow flakes. The work is not meant to be high res, one reason I'm attracted to film things like snow falling is how it is a simple pattern, is a bit like film grain, and offers itself as gentle movement within the frame.
