A Birthday
created: 11 December 2009

Making use of some more of the footage I shot a few months ago during the youngest's third birthday. Got interested in using close ups, shooting parts of things, clips and works made up only of synecdoche. This is partly because I think I ought to be cautious about what I film of my family that I just assume is OK to put online, so filming like this is one way around this. (The dilemma is not only filming extended family but recognising that my teenage kids might not appreciate me putting video of them online, or that my three year old might love it right now, but in ten years time might find the whole 'documentation of my baby years in public' just a bit not right.)

The work plays all by itself, there's a commentary which loads and plays separately from the video tracks, and toggle into the text bar will toggle between the two clips, one high res, the other heavily compressed. Another work on compression, variability, fragments and the mouse.
