Parrots and Kookaburras

We went for a short bushwalk at Badgers Creek. At the car park rosellas, king parrots, kookaburras, white cockatoos gather for a free feed. If you watch you’ll see the kookaburra get a sausage.

The Doll’s Picnic

It was the morning of her third birthday. Some dolls and teddy’s had gathered around the small table for a celebratory picnic. The pink high chair was the gift.

This links to an unusual one. This little work is a QuickTime movie that has an AHREF track so that as the movie plays it loads individual html pages in an invisible frame alongside of it. The idea was to reverse the usual relation between image (and video) and text. The usual relation is to use image as an illustration where, inspite of everyone’s best efforts, it is always secondary to the writing. Here the text, the poem, is not available at all unless the video plays, and it is the video that drives the words.

This is the first video blog post I ever made. It was called welcome. It was back in the days when we didn’t have broadband (outside of my university). It is QuickTime and used a single image as a background with a visible text track with some clickable text links in it. There was no text – back then I thought each and every post would only be video. (Oh, the above was written on September 2, 2009, though I have published and dated this with the original date of publication.)
