significant writers

These writers include Jay David Bolter, George Landow and Richard Lanham. These writers have tended to produce work that has attempted to define and demarcate what hypertext theory in this domain is. They are, if you like, the first writers who introduced hypertext into the critical theory arena. Figures like Michael Joyce, Stuart Moulthrop, Gregory Ulmer and Mark C. Taylor are extremely important, but represent the theorists who are doing critical theory about and with hypertext, rather than representing the vanguard writers who have more or less defined the field.
