Marker's credits
Le
Joli Mai (1962) Michel Legrand studied at the Paris
Conservatoire and worked with Juliette Greco and Bing Crosby as well as
being a composer and popular singer in his own right. During the 50s he
entered the world of film music and rapidly gained prominence for his
work with the directors of the New Wave. He has also worked with Orson
Welles, Kon Ichikawa, and Joseph Losey. It is possibly for his work with
Jacques Demy that he is best known (at least in terms of the cinema) and
could well be his lasting contribution to cinema music. In 1989
Legrand made his directorial debut with Cinq jours en juin (Five Days In
June). References
