Hypertext syntagmas: cinematic narration with links
technical
This essay was originally published (and is freely available) in the Journal of Digital Information, Volume 1, Issue 7, (December 2000), and is reproduced here with permission.
This essay uses tables, QuickTime progressive downloading movies, and CSS, therefore it requires QuickTime 4.1 (or better), and Netscape 4.x or Internet Explorer 5.x or better.
The tables are quite straightforward and should pose no problems for any browser that is able to read tables. QuickTime is freely available for Windows and Macintosh, and . The CSS is primarily used to define link colours. Please note that most of the CSS class definitions for text have a standard font size of 100% which means text will appear at whatever the default font size is for your browser.
If you view this essay with a browser that cannot interpret CSS then the content is still available, however the link colour coding will not be visible.
